Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit Medicaid medical claims in accordance with federal and state billing requirements
- Verify patient Medicaid eligibility and benefits prior to claim submission
- Ensure accurate use of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes in collaboration with medical coders
- Review claims for completeness, accuracy, and compliance before submission
- Monitor claim status, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and initiate appeals as needed
- Investigate and resolve Medicaid denials, rejections, and underpayments
- Post payments, adjustments, and remittance advice accurately into billing systems
- Maintain compliance with Medicaid policies, payer guidelines, and organizational procedures
- Communicate with Medicaid representatives, providers, and internal teams to resolve billing issues
- Maintain accurate billing records and support audits as required
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred)
- 1-3 years of Medicaid medical billing experience (required)
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid billing rules, claims processes, and reimbursement methodologies
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and medical billing systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple claims and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
